8:16. כִּי אֵין זִכְרוֹן לֶחָכָם עִם־הַכְּסִיל לְעוֹלָם בְּשֶׁכְּבָר הַיָּמִים הַבָּאִים הַכֹּל נִשְׁכָּח וְאֵיךְ יָמוּת הֶחָכָם עִם־הַכְּסִיל ׃

8:16. טז כאשר נתתי את לבי לדעת חכמה ולראות את הענין אשר נעשה על הארץ  כי גם ביום ובלילה--שנה בעיניו איננו ראה

8:16. כַּאֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי אֶת־לִבִּי לָדַעַת חָכְמָה וְלִרְאֹות אֶת־הָעִנְיָן אֲשֶׁר נַעֲשָׂה עַל־הָאָרֶץ כִּי גַם בַּיֹּום וּבַלַּיְלָה שֵׁנָה בְּעֵינָיו אֵינֶנּוּ רֹאֶה׃

8:16. ‏כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֤תִּי אֶת־לִבִּי֙ לָדַ֣עַת חָכְמָ֔ה וְלִרְאוֹת֙ אֶת־הָ֣עִנְיָ֔ן אֲשֶׁ֥ר נַעֲשָׂ֖ה עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ כִּ֣י גַ֤ם בַּיּוֹם֙ וּבַלַּ֔יְלָה שֵׁנָ֕ה בְּעֵינָ֖יו אֵינֶ֥נּוּ רֹאֶֽה׃

8:16. When I tried to gain wisdom and to observe the activity on earth— even though it prevents anyone from sleeping day or night—

8:16. In my search for wisdom and in my observation of people's burdens here on earth, I discovered that there is ceaseless activity, day and night.

8:16. When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes),

8:16. When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on earth, how neither day nor night do one's eyes see sleep,

8:16. When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also [there is that] neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:)

8:16. When I applied my mind to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done on earth, how neither day nor night one's eyes see sleep;

8:16. I carefully studied the things people do in this life. I saw how busy people are. They work day and night, and they almost never sleep.
